NBA player gives up career to care for wife with brain tumor

- NBA star Jrue Holiday will take a leave of absence to take care of his wife, Lauren, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor

- Aside from having a serious health condition, Lauren is also currently eight months pregnant

- The New Orleans Pelicans expressed their support for their star player’s request for a leave of absence

Jrue Holiday, an NBA star who plays for New Orleans Pelicans, has taken a leave of absence after finding out that his wife, Lauren, was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Lauren is battling the condition while being eight months pregnant with their first child, which means that she needs all the help she could get from the basketball player.

Despite being one of the most valuable members of his team, the Pelicans organization has expressed their support for their star player. Last season, Jrue averaged 14 points per game, 3.5 rebounds and 6 assists.

“We are all praying for a healthy delivery of their first child and a successful surgery for Lauren,” said Dell Demps, the general manager of the Pelicans.

Jrue and Lauren were married in July 2013. Lauren was a midfielder for the United States women’s national soccer team.

The couple promised to love each other in sickness and in health and Jrue seems to be deeply committed to his lifelong vows.

Jrue and Lauren met while attending UCLA and they officially started dating in 2009.

After the USA defeated Japan in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Lauren decided to retire from the game. Six months after her retirement, Lauren got pregnant with their first baby.

After he found out that Lauren was sick, Jrue had no second thoughts about quitting the game in order to care and spend time with his beloved wife.

“My family comes before basketball,” Jrue said.

Lauren is expected to give birth to a baby girl in October. Six weeks after her delivery, she will have to undergo surgery to remove the brain tumor.

Nobody knows yet what the result of the surgery will be, but what we can be sure of is that Jrue will stay with her wife whatever happens.
